A lab-grown diamond is a diamond. Same carbon lattice, same hardness, same optical behaviour. A gemmologist needs specialist equipment to tell them apart. Anyone who tells you one is "fake" is either misinformed or selling the other.
What genuinely differs
| Formation | A billion years underground, versus a few weeks in a reactor |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Natural supply is finite; lab-grown is not |
| Price | Lab-grown typically costs a fraction of a comparable natural stone |
| Resale | Natural stones hold value more predictably. Lab-grown prices have fallen steadily as production has scaled |
| Certification | Both are certified, and the report always states which it is |
How to choose
The question is not which is better, but what the piece is for.
- Buying something to pass on, or treating it partly as a store of value? Natural is the more predictable choice.
- Want the largest, cleanest stone your budget allows, for a piece to enjoy now? Lab-grown will buy you noticeably more.
- Unsure? See both, at the same size, side by side. Most people decide within a minute of doing that.
What we will not do
We sell both, and we will not push you toward either. What we will do is make sure you know which you are buying, that the certificate says so plainly, and that the price reflects it.
